Beneficial effects of cognitive and exercise training on cognitive functions in the elderly

Cognitive function is variety mental processes that include perception, attention, memory, decision making, and language comprehension. Cognitive function has a critical role in everyday behavior and social behavior. Our cognitive function decline with age. In elderly people, the decline typically engenders difficulty in performing basic activities of daily living. It is also a risk factor of dementia. Consequently, many people are interested in methods that can engender improvement of cognitive functions. The purpose of my study is to investigate the long term beneficial effects of cognitive and exercise training on cognitive functions. To clarify the mechanism of improvements of cognitive functions, I use an interdisciplinary approach (e.g. neuroscience, psychology, and nutrition). In the future, I will develop a systems to offer order-made intervention program for improvement of cognitive function.
