Professor: Prof. Kaoru HIRAMOTO Field of Research: Device/Technology Research Topic: Biosensor and bioimaging Can you describe the research you are doing now? We make biosensors, perform electrochemical metabolism measurements, and do bioimaging. What role do AA students play in this research? I would ask about AA’s preference in advance. 2 of the 3 AAs I have are from the science department, so they are assigned chemical experiment work while the 1 aerospace student did the design and fabrication of the experimental setup. Can you tell me about any progress or achievements of research with AA students? I was able to make more progress in my research thanks to AA’s work, and I provide them with chances to participate in conferences or seminars if they are interested. I also consider what AA learned from this lab because educating AA can also be considered as my achievement. Are there any specific values you emphasize to find the right person for the job? Students need to be interested in the research and willing to try to do the experiments. Would be better if students could think independently of what is wrong or right. Decisions are also made based on what the student will major in the future.
