Model Case 6: Green Chemistry | |
---|---|
Can you describe the research you are doing now?The development of organic batteries that do not use metals in the electrodes is being pursued through the conversion of biomass into bio-carbon materials and the impregnation of these materials with organic monomers in the field of green chemistry. What role do AA students play in this research?
Carrying out the experiment. Finding out the relationship between carbon nanopores and battery capacity. Solving the question of what kind of carbon is most efficient in maximizing battery capacity.
Can you tell me about any progress or achievements of research with AA students?I have one paper published with the 2 AA’s name on there, and I am writing another paper now that is nearing publication (have 1 AA do the main experiment and 2 other AAs as assistants). A former AA was attending a conference in Hawaii. Are there any specific values you emphasize to find the right person for the job?I look for the student’s passion and goal (get into foreign universities, write a paper, etc.). If students want to write a paper about research in their bachelor years, they need to put more effort into working. However, it is most important for the students to enjoy themselves in doing the experiments. |
