Title Development of Guest-Responsive Thin Films Based on Magnetic Metal-organic Frameworks
Priod 2022-2023

Switchable magnets, with magnetic properties that can be reversibly changed in response to external stimuli, have promising potential for applications such as switches, memories and sensors. Magnetic metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) imparted with diverse designability and porosity are ideal guest-responsive materials that can show different magnetic properties depending on the presence or absence of guest molecules within their pores. Researchers have made tremendous efforts in this field and have come up with a variety of strategies to achieve dramatic magnetic change, including 1) structural modification, 2) spin meditation of oxygen, 3) electronic state modulation, and so on. Based on these fundamental results, the next stage is to transform them into a device application. Thin-film technology is one of the typical approaches toward the application. However, the fabrication of thin films based on magnetic MOFs is still in its infancy stage. In this project, we aim to develop the guest-responsive thin films based on magnetic MOFs using electrochemical deposition method.
