** The Structures and Formation Histories of Nearby Galaxies Using the Subaru Telescope. ** My research goal is to untangle galaxy formation history. I am observationally investigating the structure, stellar population, metallicity, kinematics of an extended outer halo of the Andromeda Galaxy. Now, our group is proceeding with wide-field photometric survey of Andromeda Galaxy’s halo using the Hyper Suprime-Cam on the Subaru telescope. This allows us to explore faint stellar structures such as tidal streams and dwarf galaxies of Andromeda Galaxy’s halo. In the future, I am going to unveil a spatial distribution of metallicty and kinematics of the halo using the Prime Focus Spectrograph which will be installed on the Subaru telescope and understand formation history of the Andromeda Galaxy by comparing our observations to what is predicted from simulations of the formation of galactic halos. ** Development and Implement of Project-Based Learning programs from Science. ** In Science, I am developing and implementing Project-Based Learning that is a part of Active Learning. My lectures are able to highly motivate students to study outside classroom hours as well as to support growth of students’ generic skills. For instance, I am giving the two PBL lectures in kiso-semi and tenkai-semi of Tohoku University, which are highly evaluated by the students and the university. |
